- The Associate Practice Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and compliance of the firm’s legal practice.
- This position guides associates through strategic case management, provides structured oversight, and fosters continuous professional development.
- Working directly under the Managing [Attorney or Partner], the Associate Practice Manager drives operational excellence and ensures that all legal work aligns with firm strategy, client expectations, and professional standards of ethics and practice.
- Lead weekly Matter Status Meetings (MSM) to review case progress, deadlines, and compliance with firm procedures.
- Ensure Associate Attorneys and Licensed Legal Paralegals adhere to established workflows, documentation standards, and court requirements.
- Collaborate with the Managing [Attorney or Partner] to implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across the practice group.
- Maintain a personal caseload, demonstrating best practices in client counseling, preparation, and advocacy.
- Meet and exceed a billable goal of 120 hours per month.
- Participate in client consultations or strategy sessions where advanced experience or strategic oversight adds value.
- Serve as a coach and mentor to Associate Attorneys, offering guidance and feedback on strategy, legal writing, client communication, and time management.
- Identify training needs and collaborate with the Managing [Attorney or Partner] and Learning & Development to build individual development plans.
- Assist Associate Attorneys with building caseloads.
- Support the Managing Partner or Attorney in balancing caseloads, managing resource allocation, and resolving case management bottlenecks.
- Coordinate cross-departmental support with paralegals and operations teams.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of direct reports.
- Uphold firm values of integrity, accountability, and empathy.
- Partner with firm leadership to continuously improve workflows, compliance practices, and the overall client experience.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support the firm initiatives and operational goals.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience practicing family law.
- Active admission to the [Colorado/California/Washington/Texas/Georgia] State Bar.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with a client-focused mindset.
- High level knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe; and Zoom Conferencing Technology.

- Position may periodically require off-site work at a designated trial ‘war room’ or courthouse to support active litigation.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to handle routine or emergent issues.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk while typing, using a mouse, and looking at a computer screen.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend over, and lift items from the ground exceeding 10lbs to a height from between one’s waist to eye level.
