Job summary

DMC Biotechnologies, Inc. is seeking an Associate Project Manager to join our R&D Team in RTP, NC. The role requires a minimum of 2 years’ project management experience in biotech, preferably with synthetic biology projects, and a track record of delivering projects from initiation to completion.

This 12-month grant-funded position starts October 2026. You will collaborate across cross-functional teams, prepare charters and plans, manage budgets, risks, and stakeholder communications to drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of project management experience in biotech, with a focus on synthetic biology projects.
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budgets.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• PM tools: Smartsheet, Confluence/Atlassian, Jira; willingness to deepen skills.
• Strong understanding of synthetic biology and molecular biology principles.
• PMP certification or equivalent preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables.
• Develop charters, project plans, meeting minutes, timelines, and budgets.
• Execute project plans, monitor progress, identify risks and roadblocks.
• Serve as primary contact for stakeholders; ensure alignment on objectives, timelines, and expectations.
• Prepare and deliver project status reports, presentations, and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate resource allocation, including personnel, to support project activities.
• Identify resource constraints and optimize allocation with the technical manager.
• Mitigate project risks and issues using problem-solving and negotiation techniques.
• Implement contingency plans to ensure timely and budget-compliant deliverables.
• Monitor project quality and regulatory compliance; identify opportunities for improvement.
