Job summary

The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District in Saint Louis, MO is seeking an Associate Plant Engineer to support operation and maintenance of a major wastewater treatment facility.

You will perform beginning level engineering tasks under supervision and contribute to improving pump stations and related infrastructure. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering, and you will work within the District's CMMS and budgeting processes while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering is required.
• Knowledgeable of engineering principles and practices.
• Knowledgeable of fluid dynamics and pumping systems.
• Skilled in using basic engineering tools and performing calculations.
• Basic knowledge of engineering project management.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications.
• Skilled in data analysis and interpretation.
• Skilled in maintaining effective cross-disciplinary working relationships.
• Skilled in maintaining records and preparing reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance in installation, operation, maintenance, modification, modernization and protection of pump station facilities.
• Assist in prioritizing major system modifications within the District Capital Improvement plan.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities including contracts, facility modifications, equipment selection, procurement and construction.
• Prepare specifications and plans for engineering contracts and equipment purchases.
• Use and maintain data in the CMMS for pump station equipment and buildings.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Perform reliability engineering and root cause analysis as directed.
• Perform process optimization and efficiency analyses for utilities and pumping systems.
• Assist in the annual O&M budget preparation.

Job Description

Under general supervision, perform beginning level engineering work in the operation and maintenance of a major wastewater treatment plant or pump stations.

Essential Functions:

• Provide technical assistancein the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, modernization and protection of physical facilities and equipment in a pump station
• Assist in prioritizing major system modifications within overall District Capital Improvement plan
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering activities such as contractual engineering services, facility modifications, equipment selection, procurement and construction
• Prepare specification and plans for engineering contracts,purchases of equipment and services
• Use & maintain data in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for equipment and buildings at a pump station facilities
• Maintain records and prepare reports
• Perform reliability engineering and root cause failure analysis as directed
• Perform process optimization and efficiency analysis for utilities, chemical usages, pumping systems, etc.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual O&M budget

Additional Responsibilities:

Performs related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.

Qualifications

Training and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering

Desirable Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledgeable of the principles and practices of engineering
• Knowledgeable of fluid dynamics and pumping systems
• Skilled in the use of basic engineering tools and making engineering computations
• Basic knowledge of engineering project management
• Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering plans and specifications
• Skilled in analyzing and integrating data
• Skilled in forming and maintaining effective working relationship with multiple professional and working disciplines
• Skilled in maintaining records and preparing reports

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Must possess valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
