Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a professional planner to perform current planning tasks, focusing on zoning and platting reviews. You will research and prepare case reports, meet with applicants, and support boards and commissions through findings of fact and exhibits.

Responsibilities include pre/post-application meetings, site condition checks, and coordinating with other agencies to ensure compliance with approvals. Background checks and Alaska driver license required.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of urban planning experience for HS diploma or equivalent.
• 4 years with Associate’s degree; relevant degree substitutions allowed.
• 2 years with Bachelor’s degree; additional related experience accepted.
• Master’s degree adds substantial preference in review and reports.

Responsibilities

• Prepare planning reports and case findings for zoning and platting.
• Review planning applications and conduct pre/post-application conferences.
• Present findings to boards and commissions; ensure compliance with approvals.
• Coordinate with departments and agencies; maintain records and exhibits.
