Summary of Job Duties:UAMS Family Medical Center in Ft. Smith, AR is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a strong attention to detail. Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred. As a PRN staff member, you will have the opportunity to work a flexible schedule, providing essential healthcare services to the community.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School, GED, or formal educational equivalent required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficient in following proper specimen collection procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate specimen labeling and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience working in a clinical laboratory or as a medical assistant and CPR, CAN, PBT, MLA, or CPT Certification.
  • National Phlebotomy Certification (ex. ASCP, AMT, etc)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and verify their identity.
  • Collect blood samples by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
  • Label all samples according to outlined procedures and policies.
  • Transport and package samples in accordance with policies.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines.
  • Recognizes incorrect lab orders and corrects them.
  • Follows correct centrifugation, collection, storage, and transport guidelines set forth in the test directory.
  • Adheres to lab policies, HIPAA, and Universal Precautions.
  • May perform POC testing when applicable
