Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

  • CPP certification preferred.
  • Experience with Workday or comparable enterprise system.

Job Summary

The Associate Payroll Specialist has a full range of payroll responsibilities, including learning and understanding end-to-end payroll processing and providing exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders. As the Associate Payroll Specialist, you will follow documented processes to execute multistate payroll with multiple frequencies (including monthly, semimonthly, and biweekly). This person will learn and grow in responsibility for payroll transactions, tax audits, software maintenance and innovation, and other general tax law research under the guidance of manager and senior specialists on the team. This role maintains all federal, state, and local tax profiles within enterprise systems, documents all processes for compliance, and displays professionalism in all payroll related matters. This person will be highly collaborative and an exceptional team player.

Payroll Specialist
  • Process end to end payroll to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and timely using documented processes, including reconciliations prior to transmission and report validations.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of payroll system and processes to be able to create ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
  • Research, analyze and resolve payroll related problems under the general guidance of manager and senior specialists.
  • Assist employees in understanding deductions and transactions regarding their pay and any modifications that may occur.
  • Research and stay abreast of federal and state regulations
  • Triage and respond to payroll inquiries with a customer-centered approach
Payroll Tax Compliance
  • Under the general direction of the Payroll manager, remit tax payments based on payroll transactions and verify deposits for accuracy while following strict SOX compliance audits and federal, state and local tax laws.
  • Review the accuracy and timeliness of tax returns and deposits as submitted in the review process.
  • Ensure the highest level of compliance with internal control responsibilities of all tax review and table maintenance processes under their responsibility, including general ledger items and reconciliations.
  • Constantly work with payroll software systems with emphasis on periodic maintenance, updating tax rates, and generating the appropriate employee or employer data.
  • Analyze and reconcile tax reports and statements of deposit.
  • Triage and respond to employee inquiries on complex tax issues involving multistate travelling, proper state to state taxation, and year end inquiries.
  • Follow documented process to make tax adjustments to relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and other assignments as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field, and 0-2 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in a team environment, with ability to effectively communicate at any level of the organization
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations impacting payroll
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to deal with difficult, sensitive and confidential material
  • Effective time management with ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • General knowledge of accounting practices and principles
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Experience with Workday or comparable enterprise system
  • International payroll experience

The pay range for this role is based on relative market data and alignment with our compensation philosophy. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum of the pay range for each job posting, which is used to determine new hire rates/salaries and takes into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, proficiencies, experience, education, licensures/certifications, as well as business and organizational needs. nCino reserves the right to modify the posted range consistent with our internal practices and external market movement. Base Salary Range

$25.20 - $40.30 USD
