Job summary

UF Health Shands Homecare seeks a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA will assist in delivering safe, patient-centered care while maintaining a clean, orderly environment and promoting family satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, BLS certification, and be prepared to complete required training within 90 days for the psychiatric unit.

Qualifications

• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer for the Psychiatric unit.

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions, ability to read/write in English, etc.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
