UF Health Shands Homecare is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCA will contribute to safe, effective, patient-centered care while maintaining a clean and orderly environment and delivering service-excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.

Required education is a High School Diploma or GED, with BLS certification and CPI training within specified timelines.

• Ability to read/write in English and use hospital computer technologies.

Job Description

Full time 36 hours/week | 7:00am - 7:00pm

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.

Qualifications

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Necessary Skills

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions, ability to read/write in English, etc.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
