St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ seeks a Patient Care Associate for Med/Surg/General Surgery, part-time nights. You will assist acutely ill patients with daily living activities, support the nursing team, and help maintain a safe, clean environment on-site.

The role requires BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications by the American Heart Association and relevant PCA/PCT training or CNA credentials. Per diems and part-time schedules apply.

Qualifications

BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required within suggested timeframes.
PCA/PCT diploma or CNA certification or Nursing Fundamentals coursework.
Enrolled in nursing program with relevant coursework acceptable.
Experience in healthcare setting preferred or recent completion of PCA/PCT training.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide basic care.
Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
Perform EKGs and Venipuncture as directed by the RN.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent
Basic Life Support certification within 6 months of hire
PCA/PCT (Patient Care Associate/Patient Care Technician) diploma with 6 months to 1 year of previous work experience within the last 6 months in an healthcare setting OR
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification OR PCA/PCT diploma with National Health Career Association certification OR
Enrolled in an accredited nursing school program and has completed Nursing Fundamentals level coursework in lieu of PCA/PCT diploma/certification OR
