LifePoint is looking for another full-time pastor to join our team during this season of growth. Our most immediate ministry need is youth. Our junior high and high school ministries have grown beyond what our current part-time staffing can sustainably shepherd, and our new Associate Pastor will initially give the majority of his ministry attention to leading and discipling our students. But we are intentionally looking for more than a Youth Pastor. We want to bring someone into the broader pastoral leadership of LifePoint - someone who can preach, shepherd, lead, and grow alongside our Senior Pastor and church leadership. Initially, the majority of this pastor's ministry focus will be youth ministry. Over time, we expect the role to develop according to the pastor's gifting, the needs of the church, and God's direction for LifePoint. We are also thinking intentionally about the future of senior leadership at LifePoint. There is no predetermined timeline or guaranteed transition, but for the right person, this role offers a potential pathway toward serving as LifePoint's Senior Pastor. We're looking for someone who is excited to invest deeply in our students today while becoming an increasingly important part of the church’s pastoral team.
Both LifePoint and our youth ministry are growing. For several years, our youth ministry has been led by a part-time Youth Pastor alongside a committed team of volunteers. As the ministry has grown, so have the opportunities for discipleship, pastoral care, leadership development, and outreach. Our existing staff is stretched thin, and we believe the time has come to invest in another full-time pastor who can give our students, their families, and our volunteer leaders the attention and leadership they deserve. This isn't a position created to rebuild a struggling ministry. Our youth ministry is healthy and growing. We are looking for someone who can step into what God is already doing, shepherd it well, and help lead it into its next season. Our Youth Ministry Our students are an important and growing part of LifePoint. Our regular weekly ministries include:
- Sunday mornings: Junior High Bible Study - typically 5-15 students
- Monday nights: High School Youth Group - typically 30-40 students
- Tuesday nights: Junior High Youth Group - typically 15-25 students
- Each year, our junior high and high school students also spend a week at Hume Lake Christian Camps, with more than 85 students participating.
As Associate Pastor / Youth Pastor, you will provide the primary pastoral leadership, vision, and direction for LifePoint's ministries to students in grades 6‑12. Your youth ministry responsibilities will include:
- Lead our Junior High and High School weekly ministries
- Develop teaching and curriculum plans
- Disciple students and invest relationally in their lives
- Recruit, train, encourage, and lead adult volunteers and student leaders
- Partner and communicate with parents
- Provide pastoral care to students and families
- Engage with students in the community and on their school campuses
- Plan and lead events, camps, outreach opportunities, and mission trips
- Develop relationships with other youth pastors and ministries in our community
- Oversee the administration and budget of the youth ministry
As an Associate Pastor, you will also serve the LifePoint church family through responsibilities such as:
- Preaching on Sunday mornings approximately once per month
- Participating in pastoral care, including hospital visits, weddings, and funerals as needed
- Working closely with the Senior Pastor in planning, ministry, and leadership
- Participating in staff and church leadership meetings
- Partnering with the rest of the staff in the ministry of the church
- Growing over time into more prominent pastoral and leadership responsibilities
We are looking for a pastor who loves Jesus deeply, loves people, and desires to invest his life in the local church. An ideal candidate will:
- Meet the biblical qualifications for church leadership found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4
- Demonstrate a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- Model spiritual maturity and authentic commitment to Christ
- Be in theological alignment with LifePoint's Statement of Faith
- Have 5+ years of ministry experience preferred
- Hold a bachelor's degree, preferably in a Christian ministry‑related field
- Connect naturally with students, parents, volunteers, and the church
- Be passionate about discipleship, outreach, and leading people to Jesus
- Communicate and teach effectively
- Be teachable, self‑aware, dependable, and willing to take initiative
- Lead with empathy, discernment, compassion, and kindness
- Demonstrate strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Desire to invest in the whole LifePoint church body, not only the youth ministry
- Be able to pass a background check
LifePoint is located in Oakdale, California, a quiet small town in California's Central Valley.
