Job description

Position Summary

Associate or Assistant Athletic Trainer for Centre College Sports Medicine Team. The role is a full‑time, 10‑month position (full season) with potential evening, weekend, and overnight travel. Start date is negotiable, with sports camps in June and July. These positions report to the Head Athletic Trainer / Athletic Healthcare Administrator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
  • Provide practice and competition coverage for assigned teams; assist other teams as needed.
  • Travel with teams as required.
  • Use therapeutic modalities, taping, and bracing appropriately.
  • Proactively identify and manage concussions in conjunction with the team physician.
  • Complete necessary documentation using Sportsware EMR.
  • Collaborate with strength and conditioning staff, team physician, student health, and other health care team members regarding athlete care.
  • Communicate clearly with coaching staff about injuries and treatment plans.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification for a professional rescuer.
  • Relate sports medicine information to visiting institutions and athletic training staff.
  • Operate and maintain athletic training facilities daily.
  • Perform administrative duties assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Abide by NCAA, Kentucky state, and SAA conference rules.
  • Maintain continuing education per BOC and Kentucky state requirements.
  • Demonstrate appreciation for and sensitivity to an inclusive academic community, fostering a welcoming environment for all.
Physical Requirements
  • Moderate physical activity: standing or walking for several hours per day.
  • Lift and handle moderately heavy objects (25‑40 lbs).
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Board of Certification (BOC) in good standing.
  • License from the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.
  • First Aid/CPR certification for a Professional Rescuer.
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number preferred.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective team player.
  • Ability to react appropriately in emergency situations per state licensure guidelines.
  • Strong decision‑making skills—critical thinking and independent decisions regarding assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return‑to‑play.
  • Additional certifications beneficial (e.g., Graston, ART, Cupping, Dry Needling, CSCS, CES).
