Job summary

Copia Power seeks a technically skilled Operations Associate to support performance, reliability, and contractual compliance across solar and energy storage assets. You will work with the Director of Operations and cross-functional teams to ensure daily site activities meet safety, operational, and financial goals.

The role favors hands-on PV/BESS experience, strong analytical skills, and a proactive, continuous-improvement mindset in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of solar and/or energy storage operations, O&M management, or field engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring systems SCADA, DAS, and networks.
  • Strong PV and/or BESS and substations technical knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work on-site in Arizona and travel up to 15%.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor operations, safety, and contractor performance.
  • Troubleshoot solar inverters, modules, racking, and monitoring software.
  • Analyze site performance data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineering and asset management to implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly operating reports for internal teams and investors.
  • Support annual budgeting and monthly tracking.
  • Interact with utilities, regulators, and local government/community.

Job Description

Copia is seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Operations, Associate to support the performance, reliability, and contractual compliance of its solar and energy storage portfolio. This role will work closely with the Director, Operations and other internal teams to ensure day-to-day site activities align with operational expectations, safety standards, and financial goals. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with PV and BESS systems, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to issue resolution and continuous improvement.

The Associate, Operations will report directly to the Director, Operations, working closely with Copia's asset management, energy markets, legal, and finance teams in an individual contributor capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor operations, safety practices, and contractor performance.
  • Support complex troubleshooting of solar inverters, modules, racking systems, and monitoring software.
  • Provide feedback on availability discrepancies and assist in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations.
  • Manage optimization efforts.
  • Interact with local utilities, regulatory agencies, and local government/community.
  • Understand site‑level contractual requirements related to performance and service delivery.
  • Coordinate with O&M providers to ensure compliance with scope, safety, and performance standards.
  • Track and report on operational KPIs, availability metrics, and service‑level agreements.
  • Assist in developing monthly operating reports for internal teams and investors.
  • Support annual budget planning and monthly budget tracking.
  • Analyze site performance data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineering and asset management teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current on industry best practices and contribute to internal process improvements.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years professional experience in solar and/or energy storage operations, field engineering, or O&M management, preferably in the renewable energy industry.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring systems SCADA, DAS and networks.
  • Strong technical knowledge of PV and/or BESS, and Substations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced proficiency in PowerPoint & Excel.
  • Ability to work on-site in Arizona.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
