State of Georgia, through Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, seeks an Associate of Science in Nursing Instructor for the Ben Hill-Irwin and Coffee campus locations. The instructor will teach, coordinate labs and clinicals, and support curriculum and accreditation efforts for the ASN program.

The role requires preparing lessons, advising students, and may include weekend clinical supervision with travel between campuses. A current Georgia RN license and appropriate nursing degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current, unrestricted Georgia RN license.
  • Master's degree in Nursing is preferred; BSN with MSN pursuit acceptable.
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience within the last 7 years.

Responsibilities

  • Teach nursing courses in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Prepare and coordinate lesson plans; manage labs and clinical experiences.
  • Assist with development of program curriculum, syllabi, goals and outcomes; advise students.

Job Description

This position is a full time faculty position in the Associate of Science in Nursing Program on the Ben Hill-Irwin and Coffee campus locations. The instructor shall primarily be responsible for instructional preparation and teaching nursing courses at the Associate of Science in Nursing degree level in the classroom, clinical and laboratory settings. The instructor will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction, coordinate lab and clinical experiences, assist with the development of program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives, advise students, and evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and outcomes. The instructor will assist with and maintain programmatic accreditation requirements as appropriate, and assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. This position may include variable hours, including weekend clinical supervision of students. This position does require travel between campuses.

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS

Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, Regular use of college owned or personal vehicle for performance of duties, Various types of advanced in-field equipment as required by academic program and accreditation standards.

Working Conditions: Category I - High probability of exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens. Probability of working beyond the normal shift, but not frequently. Periodic travel between major Wiregrass campuses and satellite sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a current, unrestricted and unencumbered Georgia RN license, a Master's degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution OR a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and actively enrolled and pursuing a Master's degree in Nursing that will be completed within 18 months of hire;
  • a minimum of (3) three years experience as an RN within the past (7) seven years;
  • must be current with all health and CPR requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to meeting all other minimum qualifications, the highly desired candidate will possess one or more of the following:

  • teaching experience in an Associate Degree Nursing program;
  • experience with ACEN programmatic accreditation;
  • evidence of medical-surgical nursing clinical competency in nursing practice

SALARY/BENEFITS

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. This position is full-time and includes standard State of GA benefits such as leave accrual, options for health & other supplemental benefits, and retirement. This position may qualify the successful candidate for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. This position is funded in whole or in part by State/Local/Tuition funds.

Other Required Tests: During the course of employment, incumbents in this position may be required to supervise students at an external clinical site or other medical facility as a condition of employment. Based on this assignment, the incumbent may be required to undergo and receive a negative finding/result on a ten (10) panel drug test BEFORE placement. Should a candidate be chosen for a 2nd interview, references which support prior work history and employment experience will be contacted.
