Job description

Associate, New Verticals - Logistics Strategy & Operations

New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Washington D.C.; Phoenix, AZ

About the Team

New Verticals is an exciting team at DoorDash that is building and scaling new ways to delight our customers, leveraging the DoorDash platform. New Verticals include the DashMart, Convenience, Alcohol, Grocery, and Retail businesses. These categories bring about new challenges and opportunities to build something at DoorDash from the ground up. Our Catalog, Fulfillment and Logistics pod focuses on enabling the operations behind each delivery and we are looking to expand our Logistics function!

About the Role

We are looking to build out our team with a few Associates who will focus on a variety of strategic and operational initiatives on the New Verticals Logistics pod. The Logistics pod is focused on driving cost & efficiency savings, as well as quality improvements to empower operational leverage and growth. The projects we work on are diverse and impact all sides of our marketplace - Dashers, Consumers, and Merchants. In this role you might focus on building a best-in-class Shopper fleet working to acquire, educate, and retain high quality Shoppers and assign them to orders that best suit each Shopper’s unique abilities. You might also support our big bet around building a fulfillment network capable of providing customers with high fidelity deliveries for any items they want across their city.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
  • Build. You’ll have your fingerprints all over DoorDash’s next big business. You’ll do whatever it takes to launch, get 1% better every day, and scale something completely new. This means everything from high-level strategy to nitty-gritty operational details.
  • Strategize. From first principles, you will support strategic initiatives that impact all three sides of our marketplace, requiring high-level strategy and operational details; this can vary from building a fulfillment network to building high-quality Shopper fleet.
  • Experiment. You’ll transform strategies into operational experiments that create measurable and actionable outcomes.
  • Analyze. You’ll assess the operational and financial impacts of your decisions, and iterate quickly based on data.
  • Collaborate. You’ll work with a cross-functional team, including marketing, finance, legal, support, design, product, data science, engineering, and operations to build this new line of business for DoorDash.
We're excited about you because…
  • You are a self-starter – You have a bias towards action and are able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing work environment.
  • You’re unafraid of ambiguity. Rapid change and learning is exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous startup environments.
  • You are a problem solver – You can independently translate high-level goals into actionable plans.
  • You are gritty – You roll up your sleeves and do whatever it takes to make things successful.
  • You are analytical – You let data win arguments, and you’re comfortable pulling your own data in SQL and modeling in Excel.
  • You are relentless and hungry to learn – You do what it takes to win, no matter what.
  • You work well cross-functionally – You have experience managing multiple different stakeholders and business partners.
  • You have 1-3+ years of experience - preferably in strategy & operations, consulting, investment banking, tech, etc.
  • You have a completed Bachelor’s Degree.
Compensation

Actual compensation within the pay range listed below will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. Base salary is localized according to employee work location.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within the United States.

$56,500 — $95,000 USD
