Description

Provide administrative and clinical leadership for assigned Goldberg Center primary care health center(s) in conjunction with the Medical Director. Responsible for overall service and clinical operations of assigned health center(s). Responsible for the care of patients in assigned health center(s), as well as research, educational, and advocacy initiatives as determined by the Division Chief and Medical Director.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Medical Doctor (M.D.) from an accredited medical school. (Required)

Required Licenses and Certifications
Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children's National Medical Center. (Required)

Functional Accountabilities

Commitment to World Class Care

  • Provide clinical services for patients at Children's Hospital and other approved sites in an ethical, professional, and timely manner.
  • Oversee the medical care team and manage direct patient care for a specified patient population; improve continuity of care, customer service, and collaboration with community partners through timely completion of records and communication.
  • Participate in family-centered care and communicate professionally and compassionately; refer patients to specialists and relevant ancillary services as appropriate.
  • Utilize the defined chain of command and escalation policies appropriately.
  • Respond promptly and respectfully to team members; communicate clearly with trainees regarding patient and family communication and documentation in the electronic health record; encourage questions from trainees.
  • Foster a team approach to patient care to improve patient and staff satisfaction.

Commitment to Advocacy

  • Participate in CNMC's advocacy initiatives.
  • Contribute scholarly effort to public policy for pediatric health and well-being.
  • Educate patients and families about treatment, prevention, and care techniques.
  • Participate in health promotion, education, and prevention programs.

Commitment to Research

  • Conduct research of scientific value relevant to practice specialty.
  • Review manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Publish in scientific and management journals.
  • Apply for research grants or contracts.
  • Participate in research committees and interest groups.

Commitment to Education

  • Participate in medical education programs and hospital/university-wide efforts.
  • Provide feedback and supervision to trainees; ensure adequate orientation.
  • Train clinical professionals and students; serve as an educational resource.

Commitment to Quality & Compliance

  • Follow policies, procedures, and quality improvement standards.
  • Complete clinical documentation promptly and thoroughly.
  • Participate in policy development and review patient care protocols.
  • Monitor health center quality and lead improvement efforts.

Administrative Accountabilities

  • Develop evidence-based care programs; monitor performance and implement changes.
  • Lead operations and maintain communication with Medical Director and Division Chief.
  • Hold regular staff meetings and provide leadership.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and display empathy in interactions.

Business and Financial Accountabilities

  • Participate in financial planning and budget management.
  • Review budget performance and develop action plans.
  • Provide data and reports for operational needs.
