Overview/Description

As a member of the Cigna Healthcare (CHC) Clinical Leadership team, this role reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and leads the VBC, Trend, and Network Management team. Responsibilities include driving Total Cost of Care (TCOC) performance, improving clinical outcomes, and advancing Cigna’s VBC strategy through data-driven solutions and strategic collaborations.

The candidate should be a physician leader with extensive experience in value-based care, clinical levers affecting quality and cost, and developing innovative payment models. The role involves overseeing network and provider relationships, expanding risk-based contracts, and building a high-performing team focused on clinical, financial, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Advance VBC strategy and innovate network models.
• Partner with financial teams to identify TCOC drivers and translate insights into clinical actions.
• Manage provider performance and relationships through a dedicated regional team.
• Enhance provider relations and develop cross-functional clinical insights.
• Build and develop high-performing teams of medical and nurse executives.
• Implement scalable processes to track performance and ensure continuous improvement.
• Recruit top talent and balance clinical expertise with business acumen.
• Manage work from vision to execution, fostering collaboration within a complex matrix environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD/DO degree required; MBA or relevant business experience preferred.
• 10+ years in healthcare leadership, value-based care, and provider network management.
• 5+ years clinical practice; current practice is a plus.
• Strong understanding of healthcare financial modeling and clinical performance improvement.
• Exceptional leadership, relationship-building, and communication skills.
• Experience working with actuarial and finance teams to measure success.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
