Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Handle trafficking requests and monitor setup accuracy across channels.
  • Track pacing, identify risks, and propose data-informed optimizations.
  • Prepare dashboards and report narratives for client KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Insights to translate data into recommendations.
  • Ensure billing, reconciliation, and closeout documentation for campaigns.
  • Maintain AdBook, Salesforce, and pacing trackers with current data.

The Associate, Media Strategy plays a foundational role within The Atlantic’s Revenue Operations team, supporting the full lifecycle of digital advertising campaigns across onsite, newsletters, audio, paid distribution, and emerging platforms. Associates are responsible for managing their assigned campaigns from initial planning through performance reporting, ensuring programs deliver against client KPIs and programs contribute meaningfully to revenue, renewal potential, and overall business health.

This role requires strong analytical skills, precision in media operations, clear communication, and a desire to grow into a consultative strategist. Associates work collaboratively across Sales, AdOps, Paid Distribution, Creative Strategy, and Insights to ensure campaigns launch accurately, perform effectively, and conclude with impactful storytelling.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned campaigns from planning through wrap, ensuring timely execution, KPI alignment, and accurate documentation.
  • Develop media plans and proposals informed by client goals, performance history, audience insights, and The Atlantic’s product capabilities.
  • Manage trafficking requests sent to Paid Distribution and AdOps teams, confirming readiness and monitoring setup accuracy across all channels.
  • Track pacing and performance; identify risks early and propose data-informed recommendations and optimizations.
  • Prepare reporting dashboards using standardized templates and synthesize results into clear, KPI-driven narratives.
  • Partner with the Insights team to interpret performance data and incorporate learnings into recommendations and future plans.
  • Ensure accurate billing, reconciliation, and campaign closeout documentation for all assigned campaigns.
  • Maintain internal systems (including AdBook, Salesforce, and pacing trackers) with up-to-date and accurate campaign information.
Candidate Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in digital media, advertising operations, analytics, or related fields.
  • Understanding of the digital campaign lifecycle including planning, trafficking, optimization, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and Google Workspace.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with order management systems, Google Ad Manager, Salesforce, or similar tools is preferred, but not required.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow within a strategic media function.

  • Performance Contribution: Support of KPI achievement and effective escalation of pacing or margin risks.
  • Reporting & Insights: Delivery of clear, accurate reporting outputs and thoughtful contributions to performance narratives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effective communication and workflow coordination across internal teams.
  • Professional Growth: Demonstrated development of strategic thinking, platform knowledge, and consultative skills.
Salary minimum: $66,000; Salary maximum: $75,000
This position is based in New York City or Washington, D.C.
This is a Guild position.
