Job summary

Join CAL FIRE is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to design and prepare plans for heating, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, and water systems, and to review drawings and estimate costs. The role includes field inspections and independent surveys for installation, repair, or improvements of mechanical systems.

You will direct work and review reports, coordinating with senior engineers to ensure timely project delivery and compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing or reviewing mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, water/wastewater).
• Ability to read drawings and prepare cost estimates.

Responsibilities

• Designs and prepares plans and specifications for mechanical work.
• Checks drawings and makes cost estimates for mechanical systems.
• Directs work and reviews reports; inspects construction operations in the field.
