Responsibilities
  • Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Prepare and modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standards
  • Detail portions of projects using schematic or conceptual layouts
  • Responsible for quality and delivery of construction documentation specifications, equipment layouts, HVAC design, plumbing design, and piping design
  • Specify process equipment including pressure vessels, atmospheric tanks, pumps and heat exchangers
  • Specify material handling equipment including conveyors, pneumatic conveying systems and dust collection
  • May assume the lead engineer's role on assigned projects
  • Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area
  • Ensure that on‑site construction work is carried out according to local regulations and requirements
  • Provide conceptual drawings and sketches to incorporate in final drawings by Designers/Drafters
  • Research design options and document findings for project lead engineer
  • Handle routine contract administration
  • Develop proposals for engineering projects and construction estimates
  • Capable and experienced in managing and performing projects in a fast paced environment
  • Time manage and prioritize tasks to achieve results within cost and schedule constraints
  • Interface with Clients, vendors, construction administrators and project team
  • Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality
  • Responsible for adhering to all EAD's safety standards and practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 6 years mechanical design, engineering process plants, and overall facility design experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or willing to obtain within 6 months
  • Knowledge of building codes and NFPA standards
  • 6 years of experience in specifying mechanical equipment for industrial and commercial projects
  • 6 years HVAC, heat transfer, utility/piping and/or plumbing systems experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets including macros
  • Experience in working with Bioprocess and/or Petrochemical Clients, construction of large industrial plants, or power stations will be advantageous
  • Possess organizational skills
  • Able to set priorities and organize work to meet project deadlines and budgets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, vendors and in‑house staff
  • Self‑starter with strong attention to detail
  • Working Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Working Conditions
  • Office, plant, or client site environment
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for an extended period of time
  • Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment
  • Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed
  • Travel and/or field experience required
