Job summary

Intramotev in St. Louis, MO is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join the mechanical team developing self-propelled battery-electric railcars.

This is a broad early-career seat spanning CAD design, structural analysis, and vehicle systems under senior engineers in a full-time, in-office role. You will own defined design and analysis tasks within the design–build–test loop and grow autonomy while collaborating with manufacturing and suppliers for fabrication, testing, and certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in mechanical/electromechanical product design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and manufacturing drawings with GD&T.
• Foundational strength in statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials.
• Understanding of design for manufacturing and assembly for vehicle or heavy-equipment hardware.
• Hands-on aptitude, shop or lab work with real hardware.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical Design (CAD): develop and maintain 3D models and drawings with GD&T for retrofit railcar kit components.
• Structural Analysis: perform hand calculations and FEA for structural performance margins.
• Vehicle Systems: support braking, drivetrain/axle integration, motor mounting, and thermal management.
• Test & Validation: build test setups, run tests, analyze data, and aid regulatory certification evidence.
• Collaboration: work with senior engineers, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure fabrication and certification alignment.
