Job summary

Exponent is seeking an Associate-level Mechanical Engineer in Atlanta, GA to join our Mechanical Engineering Practice. You will apply fundamental mechanical engineering principles to help clients solve complex problems, with hands-on design, testing, and data analysis while receiving professional mentorship.

You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, contributing to projects across consumer products, industrial equipment, HVAC, and plumbing systems, and you may travel to

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field is required.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering and scientific first principles.
• Demonstrated experience in experimental design, testing, and data analysis.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, 3D CAD, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Basic woodworking or machine shop experience is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Interest in professional growth and eventual project management responsibilities.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Conduct engineering analysis and manage projects across consumer, industrial, HVAC, and plumbing applications.
• Design, build, and implement experimental fixtures and testing methods.
• Evaluate products for codes, regulations, and standards compliance.
• Collect, analyze, and visualize large data sets to support conclusions.
• Prepare reports and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across practices.
• Perform field inspections and travel to client sites as needed.
