Job summary

Join CAL FIRE is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to design and prepare plans for heating, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, and water systems, and to review drawings and estimate costs. The role includes field inspections and independent surveys for installation, repair, or improvements of mechanical systems.

You will direct work and review reports, coordinating with senior engineers to ensure timely project delivery and compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing or reviewing mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, water/wastewater).
• Ability to read drawings and prepare cost estimates.

Designs and prepares the more difficult plans, and specifications estimates for all classes of mechanical work, such as heating and air-conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, sewage collection systems, water supply and water purification systems, drainage systems, steam generating plants; checks drawings and makes cost estimates of mechanical systems; makes detailed inspections of construction operations in the field; makes independent surveys covering installation, repair or recommended improvements to mechanical systems; directs the work and reviews the reports of Mechanical Engineers; dictates correspondence and prepares reports.
