Job summary

Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B) seeks an Associate to deliver exceptional design and project management for data center and other commercial MEP projects. You will lead internal design teams and work in client-facing project management, guiding projects from concept to completion to ensure success.

This role focuses on data center projects while handling other similar mechanical engineering design work within JB&B's portfolio. Occasional travel across the U.S. is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience in facility design and construction environments.
• Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of data center HVAC, standby generation and associated fuel oil systems.
• Experience with Revit.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license, preferred.
• Experience with Chiller, Cooling Towers, AHU, Heat Pumps and Generator designs.
• Experience with energy modeling.
• Experience process water flushing and treatment.
• Experience with Building Controls Systems.
• Understanding of ASHRAE 90.1,90.4 and TC 9.9 publications 1-14.

About the Role

We are seeking an Associate who will provide exceptional design and project management services and is comfortable leading internal design teams as well as working in a client facing project management position. This position manages a variety of projects from concept to completion and is committed to the project's success.

This position focuses on the data center projects but is also expected to handle other similar mechanical engineering design projects commensurate with our portfolio of commercial MEP projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead MEP design teams for both greenfield and retrofit data center projects
• Define HVAC technical requirements and coordinate with plumbing, electrical, and fire protection teams

• Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of data center HVAC, standby generation and associated fuel oil systems

Working Conditions

This position involves sitting, walking, and periods of prolonged standing. Site visits may require use of ladders or lifts and working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions. Occasional lifting of equipment may be required.

Due to the 24x7 nature of data center operations, occasional night and weekend work is expected to support system commissioning.

Estimated compensation range: $122,000-$150,000 annual salary.
