Job summary

Joseph's Classic Market in New York is seeking a Meat Associate to support butchers, assist customers, and keep cases fresh and inviting. You’ll learn product knowledge, gain hands-on experience, and grow with internal opportunities within the Meat department and beyond.

Responsibilities include customer service, rotating stock, cutting and preparing meat to spec, handling special orders, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Training and career growth are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior meat, grocery, or food service experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic math and reading skills.
• Strong attention to detail and visual presentation.
• Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude.
• A passion for serving people.

• Provide excellent customer service by offering product knowledge, answering questions, and making personalized suggestions.
• Maintain product freshness through regular rotation and quality checks.
• Restock and rotate displays to ensure visual appeal and freshness.
• Package, label, and price self-service items accurately.
• Cut and prepare meat products to Joseph's specifications.
• Take and fulfill custom and special orders for customers.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, tools, and prep surfaces consistently.
• Operate and maintain meat department equipment.
• Assist with other tasks as assigned.

Routine Tasks:

Physical & Work Environment

A Meat Associate works primarily in the Meat department. This role involves walking and standing for extended periods, lifting products up to 80 pounds, and working in both Meat preparation rooms and refrigerated coolers with varying temperatures. Frequent interaction with customers and fellow team members is an essential part of the role.
