Job description

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT)Neuroaffirmative Private Practice | Placerville, CA | $40/hour W-2 | Approx. $41,600–$79,040/year

Every Body Heals Therapy is looking for the right person—not simply an associate to fill a caseload.

This is a unique position in a small, growing private practice devoted to holistic, relational care for neurodivergent humans and their families. Because we will work closely together in supervision, clinical development, and potentially the creation of new programs, finding a strong philosophical and interpersonal match matters a great deal.

We are especially passionate about serving neurodivergent humans, but you are not limited to a neurodivergent caseload. Associates are encouraged to discover, develop, attract, and retain their own specialty populations and areas of clinical interest as they grow into their professional identity.

The Position

This is a W-2, nonexempt AMFT position paying $40/hour for all compensable work time, including client sessions, documentation, care coordination, clinical supervision, required meetings and training, and other authorized work.

Caseloads are built gradually. Once established, associates may choose a caseload of approximately 15–30 client-contact hours per week, depending on their professional goals, availability, and desired workload. Administrative, documentation, supervision, and other compensable time is paid in addition to client-contact time.

Associates are welcome to maintain additional employment outside EBH Therapy. We want this to be sustainable, meaningful work—not a job that requires you to build your entire professional life around one practice.

Clinical Work & Supervision

EBH Therapy's areas of specialization include children, adolescents, families, autism, ADHD, trauma, attachment, and neurodivergence. Our work draws from humanistic, relational, developmental, play-based, and experiential approaches, including Child-Centered Play Therapy, DIR/Floortime, Brainspotting, IFS-informed work, attachment-based approaches, and neuroaffirmative care.

At the same time, we want associates to develop their own areas of expertise. If there is a population or clinical concern you are passionate about serving, you are encouraged to cultivate that specialty and build a caseload around it.

Paid clinical supervision is at the heart of this position.

Supervision will focus not simply on meeting requirements for licensure, but on developing the kind of clinician the population of humans seeking mental health services is in great need of: someone who can think critically, tolerate complexity and uncertainty, understand people in context, build genuine therapeutic relationships, recognize their own limitations, use evidence without becoming constrained by protocols, and remain curious about the human being sitting across from them.

You are not expected to arrive as a finished therapist.

There will be room for questions, mistakes, uncertainty, disagreement, experimentation, reflection, and discovering your own authentic clinical voice.

The goal isn't just to help you become licensed. It's to help you become an excellent therapist.

A Unique Opportunity to Grow

For the right person, this position may expand beyond traditional psychotherapy.

EBH Therapy is developing the HUG (Human Understanding Group) Protocol, a neuroaffirmative, relational approach supporting emotional understanding, self-knowledge, communication, social navigation, and meaningful connection without teaching neurodivergent people to mask.

Interested associates may have opportunities for additional paid training and experience learning the HUG approach, co-facilitating programming, helping develop the model, and eventually taking on additional HUG-related work as the program grows.

Participation is optional, but we would be particularly excited to meet someone who sees possibilities in this kind of work.

Who Might Be a Great Fit?

We would especially like to hear from you if you:

  • Care deeply about neuroaffirmative and holistic mental health care
  • Want to understand behavior rather than simply modify it
  • Are curious, reflective, creative, and willing to keep learning
  • Value relationship, autonomy, authenticity, and human dignity
  • Want close, meaningful clinical supervision
  • Want to develop your own clinical interests and specialty areas
  • Are interested in relational, developmental, or experiential approaches
  • Would be excited to help build something new

Experience with neurodivergence, children, play therapy, or developmental approaches is wonderful, but passion, curiosity, and philosophical fit matter more than arriving with specialized training.

Applicants must hold or be eligible for current California BBS registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT).

A Neuroaffirmative Workplace

Neuroaffirmative care applies to our employees, too.

Professionalism at EBH Therapy means ethical practice, reliability, respect, responsibility, and accountability—not performing a particular social style. Different communication styles, sensory needs, processing speeds, ways of moving, and neurotypes are welcome.

Compensation & Support

$40/hour for all compensable work time | W-2 employee

Estimated annual compensation: approximately $41,600–$79,040, based on approximately 15–30 client-contact hours per week plus proportionate paid time for documentation, administration, supervision, and other authorized work. Actual earnings will depend on caseload and total hours worked.

The position also includes paid clinical supervision, paid sick leave and vacation, practice-funded required training, professional-development support, office space, clinical materials, work laptop and phone, EHR/telehealth systems, and flexible scheduling within the needs of clients and the practice.

We know this position won't be the right fit for every associate—and that's okay. We're hoping to find someone who reads this and thinks:

“This position is exactly aligned with the direction I want to grow in as a human and a clinician.”

EBH Therapy is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants across identities, backgrounds, abilities, neurotypes, communication styles, and lived experiences.
