Associate Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical

Apply for the Associate Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical role at Boeing in El Segundo, CA. This role focuses on developing, implementing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for electrical and electronic assemblies, ensuring quality, producibility, and cost‑effective production.

Position Overview

Hands‑on, on‑site engagement with periodic travel to supplier locations. The position is 100% onsite and requires work on the shop floor to meet schedule and quality targets.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes for electrical/electronic assemblies, including printed circuit board (PCB) production, harness wiring, and electronic box builds.
  • Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation such as process flows, work instructions, assembly guides, routings, tooling specifications, and process control plans.
  • Lead process validations, first‑article inspections, failure investigations, root‑cause analyses, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Interface with design engineering, quality, procurement, test engineering, and production teams to resolve manufacturability and producibility issues.
  • Define and specify manufacturing tooling, jigs, fixtures, and test equipment; support procurement and supplier integration.
  • Support production ramps, capacity planning, and troubleshooting on the shop floor to ensure schedule and quality targets are met.
  • Implement and sustain Lean and Six Sigma practices to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with Boeing manufacturing standards, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and train production personnel on processes, work instructions, and best practices.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a non‑US equivalent related to the work statement.
  • 2+ years of experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design.
  • 2+ years of experience defining process flows, process diagrams, and process documentation.
  • Proficiency with CAD/ECAD basics (CREO, SolidWorks, or similar), manufacturing data systems (MES/PLM), and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Familiarity with soldering processes, automated assembly (pick‑and‑place, reflow), conformal coating, cable/harness assembly, and electronic test methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with cable/harness assembly methodologies and IPC standards (e.g., IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001), MIL‑STD, and DFx/DFMA for electronics.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or related manufacturing engineering certifications.
  • Experience with test fixture design, automated test equipment (ATE), and environmental/EMC test support.
  • Prior experience with supplier development and qualification programs.
