Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for Assembly Mechanics‑Electrical to support a variety of programs in Berkeley, MO.

Position Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to understand assembly requirements.
  • Assemble electrical components and systems, including wiring harnesses, control panels, circuit boards, and other electrical devices, using hand tools, power tools, and soldering equipment.
  • Install electrical components into production aircraft ensuring proper alignment and connection.
  • Perform bench and assembly line operational check out, troubleshooting, repair and adjustment of electrical and electronic systems, lighting circuits, power plant systems, wing fold circuits, missile launch racks, aircraft instrumentation, provide flight test instrumentation, fire wiring system, fuel system.
  • Assemble, install, check out physical characteristics and modify wire bundles to aircraft of aircraft mock ups.
  • Bench assemble electrical or electronic components and conductors into electrical units and systems before methods and procedures have been established.
  • Cut, identify, strip, tin, solder, attach components, and pot to prepare wire for assembly.
  • Tie, seal, and pack assembled bundles and units.
  • Install wire bundles or other electrical and electronic components in aircraft, power plants or ground support equipment.
  • Test assembled electrical systems to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues and make necessary repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to identify and implement improvements in assembly processes and techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of assembly activities, including component inventory, work orders, and test results.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Physical Demands

Limited (0-1 Hrs) crawling, lying down (back, front, side), forceful grasping, occasional (1-3 Hrs) requires lifting, pushing, pulling, and supporting up to 35 lbs. Bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, squatting, reaching. The position may have frequent (3-6 hrs) exposure to noise. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, moving parts and occasional exposure to high/exposed places. Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling up to 35 lbs. Frequent standing, reaching, handling, and turning. Working on elevated and/or uneven surfaces. This position requires eye, hearing and other personal protective equipment, frequent (up to 8 hours) of standing, occasional (1-3 Hrs) climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting and working on ladders. Use of personal protective equipment for face/eyes and ears may be required.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements
  • 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • Experience in electrical assembly installation.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
  • Aircraft assembly experience.
  • Experience with any of the following: avionics systems troubleshooting, wire bundle installations, and aircraft electrical systems troubleshooting.
  • Experience in interpreting electrical engineering drawings, schematics, and definitions.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems.
Typical Education / Experience

High school graduate or GED. Prefer a minimum of one (1) or more years of related work experience.

Additional Information
  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned.
  • This is an hourly position that will be governed by the IAM 837 Collective Bargaining agreement.
  • New hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. All new employees, re‑hires without seniority or transfers from outside of IAM 837 jurisdiction, shall be regarded as probationary during their first one hundred twenty (120) calendar days of employment. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of any required training and the probationary period.
