Job description

About Us

At Intramotev, we are dedicated to revolutionizing the freight industry by liberating tons of freight from congested highways, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing transportation efficiency. We are deploying self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles to transform freight logistics and bring innovation to our rail network.

Based in St. Louis, MO, we are committed to promoting industrial revitalization, saving lives, and minimizing the environmental impact of trucking and transportation. We actively foster a work environment for every teammate that's welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunities for professional growth. Find your future with us.

Role Overview

We are seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to join the production team building our self-propelled battery-electric railcars and vehicles in St. Louis. This is a broad early-career manufacturing seat: you'll partner with design engineering on manufacturability (DFM/DFA), develop and document assembly processes and work instructions, specify tooling and fixturing, support quality and first-article inspection, and work with suppliers on new product introduction and production ramp for vehicle build and retrofit.

This is a full-time, 100% in-office role based in St. Louis, MO. You'll work within a team of 1–10 engineers and technicians and engage in occasional domestic travel to support integration, testing, demonstrations, and customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacturability: Partner with design engineering to feed DFM/DFA input back into part and assembly designs so they can actually be built.

  • Process Development: Define, document, and improve assembly processes and work instructions for railcar components, subassemblies, and retrofit kits.

  • Tooling & Fixturing: Specify and implement the fixtures, tools, and equipment the build needs.

  • Quality: Support first-article and incoming inspection, process validation, root-cause analysis on build issues, and corrective action.

  • Supplier & NPI Support: Support new product introduction and production ramp, and work with suppliers to confirm delivered parts meet production requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $60,000-$80,000 plus equity

Intramotev offers a comprehensive benefits package for all team members, including:

  • Medical coverage: We cover 100% of employee medical premiums, plus low-cost dental and vision options.

  • Vacation: Full-time employees enjoy unlimited paid time off.

  • Equity: Full-time employees receive equity in the company.

  • Parental leave: New parents receive paid time off to spend quality time with their family.

About You: Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Open to December 2026 and May 2027 graduates.

  • 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or process development, including relevant internship, co-op, or university research/project experience.

  • Foundational understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality principles.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and BOMs and translate them into a build process.

  • Ability to author clear assembly work instructions a technician can follow.

  • Familiarity with CAD (Autodesk Inventor, Fusion, AutoCAD, or SOLIDWORKS).

  • Hands-on and comfortable on the shop floor, working directly with technicians and fabrication equipment.

  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.

  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment as an individual contributor.

  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. F‑1 OPT is supported.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:

  • DFM/DFA coursework or project experience.

  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methods and continuous improvement.

  • Welding, machining, sheet metal, or composites process familiarity.

  • Electrical and wiring assembly exposure — crimping and terminations, harness build, continuity testing.

  • Fixture and tooling design.

  • Quality systems and supplier quality — first article, incoming inspection, PPAP, or ISO 9001 exposure.

  • ERP/MRP exposure (routings, BOM structure, work orders).

  • Experience in a directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, Automotive, Aerospace, or Heavy Machinery.

  • University design competitions — Formula SAE, Baja SAE, robotics — or comparable hands-on build teams.

Typical Education and Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor and/or Master) and typically 0–2 years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. relevant internship, co‑op, or university research/project experience).
