Job summary

Nidec Corporation seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement cost-effective manufacturing processes in line with product specs and quality standards. You will coordinate launches, optimize robotics, capture data, and drive improvements across production teams.

Qualifications

  • Ensure data acquisition and archival of key processes (SQL server).
  • Lead efforts to implement process controls and monitoring on powder paint wash system.
  • Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
  • Collaborate with management, design engineering and staff on production capabilities and schedules.
  • Cost-justify tools, machinery, and equipment for manufacturing methods.
  • Represent manufacturing engineering on cross-functional teams.

Job Description Position Objective: Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for knowledge of plant electrical utility service and distribution
  • Maintain and optimize existing plant robotics (robotic welding)
  • Ensure accurate data acquisition and archival of key processes (SQL server archive for VPI)
  • Lead efforts to implement process controls and monitoring on powder paint wash system
  • Lead efforts to improve productivity through automation of select processes
  • Support maintenance staff related to motors and drives
  • Support product testing functions as needed
  • Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of processes and related equipment.
  • Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training teams and evaluating results.
  • Confer with management, design engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Confer with sales, planning, and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results.
  • Design, develop and test and / or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Apply statistical methods, lean manufacturing principles and perform product / process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and improved efficiency.
  • Represent manufacturing engineering cross-functional teams.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects from start-up to completion
  • Participate in plant wide safety initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Work Experience Requirements:
  • 0 to 3 years related manufacturing experience required
  • Robotics and Automation (PLS, Motors, Drives, etc.)
  • Capital Project Management
  • Industrial Electricity
  • Computer proficiency
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical field required
