Job description

Employment Type: Full-time | On-site

Our client is seeking an experienced Associate Manager, Production & Material Planning to lead production and materials planning across a complex, multi-programme aerospace manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who combines strong MRP, materials planning, production planning and master scheduling expertise with the confidence to lead a team, manage competing priorities and work effectively with demanding internal stakeholders.

You’ll oversee a team of Production and Material Planners while acting as a key link between Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Quality and Program Management. The environment is fast-paced and priorities can shift quickly, so we’re looking for someone who can assess the situation, make informed decisions and drive issues through to resolution with minimal direction.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the development, maintenance and execution of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across multiple programmes.
  • Oversee MRP execution, ensuring accurate demand signals, planned orders and material flow.
  • Align production plans with capacity, labour availability, material readiness and programme/customer requirements.
  • Manage and develop a team of Production Planners and Material Planners, including coaching, mentoring, workload prioritisation and performance management.
  • Monitor material shortages and production constraints, taking ownership of cross-functional recovery and mitigation plans.
  • Partner with Procurement on supplier delays, expedites and strategic material risks.
  • Lead prioritisation discussions when multiple programmes and internal customers have competing requirements.
  • Review and maintain planning fundamentals including BOM accuracy, lead times, lot sizing, routings and planning parameters.
  • Support capacity planning, level loading, NPI, engineering changes, configuration control and production readiness.
  • Communicate schedule risks, material constraints and recovery plans clearly to programme and senior leadership.
  • Maintain planning data integrity and audit-ready documentation within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Drive improvements in on-time delivery, schedule adherence, forecast accuracy, inventory health and material flow.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for planning, scheduling and material-related issues.
  • Ensure planning processes support AS9100, FAR/DFARS, internal and customer requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • We’re particularly interested in candidates with 10+ years of progressive Supply Chain/Planning experience, ideally spanning several areas such as: Materials Planning, Production Planning, Master Scheduling, MRP, Capacity Planning, Broader Supply Chain Planning
  • You should have strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite and understand how materials, capacity, production schedules and programme requirements interact across the wider supply chain.
  • Aerospace experience is strongly preferred. Candidates from other complex, highly regulated manufacturing environments particularly medical devices or automotive will also be considered.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline is preferred, while APICS certification would be advantageous.
  • This position requires an established people leader. Ideally, you’ll bring 2+ years of leadership or management experience and have experience
  • Coaching and mentoring planners.
  • Managing performance and addressing development gaps.
  • Leading both junior and experienced team members.
  • Setting priorities and creating urgency when required.
  • Handling difficult conversations professionally.
  • Influencing people outside your direct reporting line.
  • Communicating effectively with senior and executive stakeholders.

What Will Make You Successful

  • You’ll thrive in this role if you're proactive, composed and comfortable taking ownership. We’re looking for someone who can be given a complex planning issue, investigate it independently and come back with either a solution or a clear, well-considered escalation.
  • You should be confident enough to challenge assumptions and push for action without being abrasive, and thoughtful enough to communicate difficult messages effectively. Strong prioritisation, expectation management, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills will be critical.

This role suits someone who enjoys operating across the bigger supply-chain picture while still being willing to get into the detail when a material, schedule or planning issue needs investigation.
