As a Category Leadership Manager, you'll play a critical role in driving growth for Lifestyle Brands, our customers, and the categories in which we compete. Leveraging deep shopper, category, and market insights, you'll uncover opportunities that influence key decisions around assortment, pricing, promotion, merchandising, and shelf strategy.
You’ll serve as the lead category thought partner, collaborating cross-functionally to transform data into actionable business recommendations. Beyond supporting customer strategies, you'll bring valuable marketplace learnings back to the organization, helping shape broader commercial decisions and fueling growth across our business. About The Role
- To be the recognized expert in our categories and brands at Walmart. This role will:
- Provide fact and insight- based solutions that drive growth for category, customer, and the LSB.
- Utilize shopper insight, opportunity identification and full understanding of products, assortment, pricing, placement, shelving, promotion, and merchandising to inform our strategy with assigned customers.
- Lead as primary insight provider for our categories at the customer that lead to marketplace actions. In this role, you will work closely with internal (SCJ Sales, Brand, Customer Marketing) and external partners.
- Provide insights and perspective from customer activities back to the broader organization so that transferable learnings can be leveraged with other customers
Key Responsibilities
- Create and plan category leadership solutions that deliver profitable sales growth for the LSB in the mass and club channels. These solutions should include shopper and category insights across products/ assortment (everyday/ new products/ promoted/ seasonal), placement and everyday shelving and merchandising, pricing (everyday, seasonal, and promotional), promotions and seasonal merchandising
- Leverage LSB Category & Shopper Leadership toolbox such as Nielsen RMS & Panel Data, Customer-specific POS & Panel, and other internal/external tools
- SCINTILLA Wal*Mart and Madrid (Sam’s Club) will be of particular focus
- Partner with Sales and cross-functional teams to develop & deliver compelling insights presentations, business reviews, and growth strategies that advance business outcomes at Walmart and Sam’s Club.
- Where appropriate, manage and deliver against the responsibilities of the Category Captaincy/Advisory process in partnership with the customer
- Identify specific research opportunities (shopper, consumer, etc.) to bring new learning to category leadership solutions
- Assist with HQ lead research projects when appropriate, to provide context that will improve the applicability of results in the mass channel.
- Leverage insights and resources through the utilization of a broad range of data sources, market research findings, tools, analyses, and technology to continually bring new shopper ideas to customer and company; incorporate in all category solutions for assigned major customer(s)
- Create / Maintain any customer specific topline reporting / KPI tracking (reporting that is supplemental to HQ generated reporting)
- Be a voice for Walmart in team strategy creation.
Required Experience You’ll Bring
- Bachelors degree and 5+ years (or Masters degree and 3+ years) in category management / analytics at a major syndicated data provider or established consumer packaged goods company
- 1+ years experience with SCINTILLA Luminate (Walmart)
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Experiences And Skills
- Strong analytical skills. Solid experience in analyzing syndicated reports or using trade management tools (IRI, NielsenIQ)
- Stamina, character, sense of humor, detail-oriented tactician with proactive approach and work ethic appropriate for a fast-paced, team-oriented, growth company
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work within tight timeframes and deadlines
- Ability to independently assess data, integrate into selling stories and leverage it to grow our business
- High degree of curiosity on consumer/retail behaviors + insights
- Excellent presentation skills and a colorful storyteller
- Team player eager to support others & build group culture
- Experience in partnering with / presenting to customers
- Towering technical skills, especially in Excel + Powerpoint
- Ability to communicate with data and information in a clear and concise (+fun) fashion
- Proficient with syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen) and panel tools
Job Requirements
- Full Time – regular business hours, Monday – Friday
- Home-office (remote) position based in Bentonville, AR.
- This role is not offering relocation assistance
- Travel :15% to be dictated by customer team need
