Job summary

The J. M. Smucker Co. is seeking a Senior Analyst to join the Walmart Advisory team in Bentonville, AR. This role develops category growth strategies, builds analytics tools, and supports modular execution across Frozen Snacks and Entertaining.

You will work with HQ and retailer teams to create insights, dashboards, and omni-channel strategies driving in-store and online growth, while collaborating across functions and with Walmart buyers and planners.

Responsibilities

• Advance the team’s development of space management automation capabilities (Shelf IQ) to drive efficiencies and accuracy in planogram activation
• Develop automated category performance scorecards, dashboards, and ad-hoc business intelligence tools enabling quick and efficient review of category performance and market landscape
• Support team in delivering flawless modular execution for the Frozen Snacks and Entertaining category advisorship
• Assist the team in building influential category growth strategies by gathering and analyzing category, consumer, and market data from multiple sources (e.g., Luminate, IRI, Retail Link, shopper insights, sales data)
• Assist in development of holistic omni-channel category strategies by leveraging the tools, insights, and analytics from internal, industry, and retailer-specific sources
• Assist the team in developing actionable insights and strategic category initiatives to drive category growth with Walmart
• Foster collaborative relationships with the buyer, planner, modular development, and replenishment teams at Walmart

Your Opportunity as the Senior Analyst, Category Walmart Advisory

This role serves as a critical member of the Walmart category advisor team working directly with Walmart in support of developing winning category growth strategies and modular execution. Key responsibilities include leveraging and developing point-of-sale business reporting to inform over-arching category performance as well as supporting the delivery of flawless modular execution within the team. This role is key in supporting the development and discovery of industry leading category growth opportunities to drive in-store and omnichannel growth working closely with HQ Category Leadership, Insights, and Integrated Analytics teams to create holistic analyses, analytic tools, and understanding of the Category landscape to drive winning category growth in support of our Walmart category advisorship.

Location: Bentonville, AR

Work Arrangements: Hybrid - onsite a minimum of 2 days per week

In this role you will:

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 2+ years’ experience in Sales Analytics, Category Management, or Shopper Insights
• Experience using Syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen), POS, Panel, and Retailer Shopper data
• Demonstrated ability to develop high-quality relationships
• Ability to support, develop, and execute shopper and channel reporting analysis to enable the successful execution of Retail strategies
• Ability to think outside the normal boundaries to develop new solutions that enhance category leadership capabilities
• Proactively contributes thought-leadership on industry trends
• Strong customer management and project management skills
• Proficient and/or knowledgeable in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint)
• Strong cross-functional teamwork orientation
• Effective analytical, interpretive, & problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence decisions
• Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects and customers
• Ability to travel as needed (less than 10%)

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role (not required):

• Experience using Spotfire, PowerBI or Tableau to analyze sales reports
• Experience building relationships with retail customers
• Experience implementing space automation capabilities
• Proficient in Walmart Point of Sale data and Luminate Data
• Proficient with 3rd Party data analysis (NPD, Mintel, Kantar)
