We are hiring an Associate Support Engineer to support customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. This hands-on role is ideal for someone eager to learn, passionate about Linux and open source, and interested in working with industry experts at Canonical.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing technical support remotely via phone, email, and web.
  2. Owning and managing support cases, ensuring high customer satisfaction and adherence to SLAs.
  3. Contributing to and maintaining knowledge base articles.
  4. Drafting technical notices and communicating effectively with customers and internal teams.
  5. Prioritizing tasks and continuously learning about evolving products and services.
  6. Understanding Ubuntu development to set accurate customer expectations.
  7. Participating in team communication and suggesting service improvements.
  8. Participating in a weekend rotation support schedule.

Qualifications include:

  • Strong academic record and degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience with Linux troubleshooting and basic knowledge of server administration, programming, networking, or virtualization.
  • Quick learner, adaptable, and able to handle customer-facing pressures.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and appreciation for diversity.
  • Result-driven with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Experience with virtualized environments (KVM, VMWare, VirtualBox).
  • Contributions to open-source projects or forums.
