Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks an Associate Laboratory Director (ALD) for the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource. You will provide strategic, scientific, and operational leadership to SSRL and align the directorate with SLAC’s mission.

The ALD may join Stanford University as a faculty member in Photon Science. You will liaise with DOE, national laboratories, and academia to develop externally sponsored programs, oversee safety culture, and guide large-scale facilities and

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
• Distinguished research record in synchrotron radiation research and/or accelerator-based science.
• Experience crafting strategy and generating research funding in multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, management, and strategic vision for SSRL operations and programs.
• Develop new science programs and funding channels with federal agencies and others.
• Identify and grow staffing and infrastructure capabilities to implement SSRL vision.
• Drive directorate planning to align with SLAC's mission and future facilities.
• Lead workforce planning and talent development across SSRL.
• Plan and execute financial strategies and capital upgrades for SSRL.
