Job description

Our client is a well-established single-family office headquartered in New York. They are looking to add an Associate to their investment team. The firm invests in a broad range of securities including equity, debt, and alternative assets on both a direct and indirect basis across a range of sectors and asset classes and allocates to outside managers across a variety of strategies.

The Associate will be a key contributing member of the investment team, reporting to the CIO and assisting in evaluating current and future investments, both direct and third-party. In addition to analytical support the Associate will also provide support for all operational aspects of the investment process.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the CIO and Director of Investments with in-depth modeling, data gathering, and underwriting for existing and potential investments across multiple asset classes
  • Collect and synthesize information about companies, industries, asset classes, managers
  • Clearly and concisely articulate investment summaries and respond to feedback
  • Work independently on due diligence; conduct ad hoc analysis, research, and other projects related to the investment function with a demonstrated ability to triage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Operational support for all investment processes required to run a boutique asset manager, including monitoring the performance of existing investments and interacting with an internal finance team
Qualifications:
  • 3-6 years of investment experience (long-only asset management, single- or multi-family office, fundamentally-driven hedge fund, allocator, sell-side or similar among the potential applicable backgrounds)
  • MBA and/or CFA a plus
  • Comprehensive modeling/financial statement analysis proficiency, strong analytical skills; passionate about investing
  • Intrinsically motivated; exceptional intellectual acumen and curiosity; smart, humble, and hungry
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and ethical standards
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills; high degree of professionalism and ability to work collaboratively
  • Organized and precise with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with Bloomberg a plus; experience and interest in implementing AI to enhance process efficiency
  • Generalist breadth with the ability to develop specialist depth
  • Start-up perspective: do what's required to get the task completed
  • Mindset to support the deployment of capital by an opportunistic investor with an intermediate- to long-term focus
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident/green card holder, or H-1B visa holder
