Job summary

Gemspring Capital seeks an experienced Associate to join our special situations/non-control investment team. This is an opportunity to work on the full deal process, from evaluating opportunities to portfolio company improvements.

Associates will lead financial modeling, market research, and investment memos, while coordinating with bankers, lawyers, and portfolio executives to drive execution. The role emphasizes hands-on learning in a collaborative, in-office setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • 1 year of Private Equity Buyout and/or Special Situations/Non-Control Investing experience plus 2 years at bulge bracket or middle market investment bank or top-tier-management consulting.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities, financial modeling proficiency, valuations, and deal execution understanding.
  • Self-motivated, outside-the-box thinker with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communicator with bankers, lawyers, c-suite portfolio teams, and other third parties.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple deals in an organized, solutions-oriented manner.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed financial modeling and KPI analyses to inform underwriting of potential investments.
  • Lead market research, competitive analysis and other qualitative workstreams.
  • Prepare detailed investment memos and presentations for the investment committee.
  • Manage internal, company and third-party stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient deal processes.
  • Maintain close partnership with portfolio company management teams and internal operating partners to drive financial and operational improvements and execute add-on acquisitions.

Position Description

Gemspring is currently seeking an experienced Associate to join one of our team’s focused on our special situations/non-control investment strategy. This is an opportunity to join an entrepreneurial team of professionals with an impressive blend of financial and operational experience.

Associates will have direct responsibilities for all aspects of the private equity deal process, including, but not limited to, evaluating new deal opportunities, valuation modeling, completing business diligence, managing third party diligence providers, closing execution and mechanics, as well as closely interacting with portfolio company executive teams to drive operational improvements.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of Private Equity Buyout and/or Special Situations/Non-Control Investing experience in addition to 2 years at a bulge bracket or middle market investment bank or top tier-management consulting firm
  • Advanced analytical capabilities, financial modeling proficiency, valuations, and deal execution understanding
  • A highly motivated, outside of the box thinker, who understands how to deliver on short-term timeframes and is committed to meeting deadlines
  • A thoughtful, open, and honest communicator with an ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, verbally and on paper, internally and externally with bankers, lawyers, c-suite portfolio teams, and other third parties
  • A demonstrated track record of prioritizing and managing multiple deals and tasks in an organized, solutions-oriented manner
