Job summary

Stryker Group is seeking a field installation specialist responsible for on-site installation, testing, and quality inspection of surgical light suspensions and related systems. You will coordinate with sales, project engineering, project management, field service, electricians, plumbers, general contractors, and perioperative hospital staff to deliver complete installations.

The role requires 100% overnight travel, Monday through Friday, with travel, lodging, and meals covered per policy.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s preferred.
  • Experience with telecom/video system installation or medical devices is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required.

Job description

Basic Responsibilities

Responsible for the on‑site physical installation, functional testing, and quality inspection of surgical light suspensions, surgical booms, video integration systems, and related equipment. Partner with internal teams including sales, project engineering, project management, and field service and external teams such as electricians, plumbers, general contractors, and perioperative hospital staff.

This role requires 100% overnight travel, Monday‑Friday. Travel, lodging and meal expenses are paid for by Stryker in accordance with the Stryker Corporate Travel Policy.

Responsibilities
  • Confirms site readiness of pre‑installation requirements and performs a detailed product inventory of installable equipment. Communicates issues to the internal project team and follows up for resolution.
  • Responsible for the installation of all surgical light suspension systems, surgical booms, video integration systems, and associated cabling, delivering appropriate video signals and installing ancillary equipment according to quality and safety standards and applicable regulations.
  • Programs, tests, and inspects all video integration sources according to design specifications and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards. Performs all functional and quality checks and documents them before project sign‑off.
  • Documents and maintains accurate records of equipment installation and related activities.
  • Completes daily update reports and other administrative responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner. Provides project updates to relevant stakeholders and coordinates with Quality to ensure compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Interprets, understands, and installs equipment according to complex wire diagrams and CAD drawings.
  • Understands infrastructure, electrical, and network requirements of installable equipment.
  • Understands basic Internet Protocol (IP) and computer networking requirements as related to integration products.
  • Receives training in identical installation and integration practices at different locations to ensure consistency and serviceability.
  • Coordinates and books travel arrangements for self, manages daily schedule to ensure timely arrival and completion of all installation activities.
  • Maintains project stakeholder relationships, communicates progress updates, and provides basic operational training to customers as needed.
  • Manages and maintains inventory of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Responds to internal and external customer inquiries and service requests, communicating status and progress updates.
  • Builds relationships with internal and external business partners to provide outstanding customer service and shares lessons learned to improve business processes.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and standards dictated by customer facilities and by Stryker.
  • Completes training to ensure proper personal protective equipment is used during execution of duties.
  • Advocates the importance of safe work practices.
  • Maintains accurate and up‑to‑date product, quality, and process standards through the Learning Management System.
Physical Requirements
  • Exert up to 50 pounds on occasion, up to 10 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
  • Utilizes equipment including ladders, chain hoists, material lifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Climbs ladders and works within confined spaces and above ceilings.
  • Has near‑visual acuity (corrected), color vision, mobility, bending, standing, stooping, and finger dexterity.
  • Communicates effectively in person and via cell phone, text, and email.
  • Travels via commercial airline and maintains a state‑issued driver’s license to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Works with large pieces of construction and medical equipment.

  • Interacts appropriately with a variety of individuals including customers and internal partners.
  • Reads, navigates, and comprehends installation and technical manuals and project documents with acute attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills/Experience Required
  • 0–2 years of related technical experience (telecom, video/audio system installation, electrical/construction, medical device, hospital biomed).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a professional work ethic and attitude.
  • Intermediate PC and application skills, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment such as data loggers, micrometers, voltmeters, and waveform/vector scopes.
Education/Training Required
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) preferred but not required.
  • 0–2 years of technical experience or comparable skill set.

Pay rate will not be below any applicable local minimum wage rates.
