Job summary

Inotiv is seeking an Associate Histology Technician to join our Maryland Heights laboratory. The role involves identifying anatomical landmarks for wet tissue, trimming tissue, recording observations, and ensuring compliance with SOPs and study documentation.

The position requires a college-level science background and preferred lab experience. Responsibilities include operating tissue processing equipment, maintaining data/files, and adhering to safety protocols in a typical lab environment.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or equivalent science coursework.
  • Prior lab experience preferred.
  • Experience aligning with listed responsibilities in histology or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Identify anatomical landmarks for wet tissue.
  • Perform Tissue Trimming.
  • Record gross tissue observations.
  • Document all study and laboratory activities for compliance.
  • Maintain study data files and specimens in an organized fashion.
  • Review study documentation for SOP compliance.
  • Operate tissue processing equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, monitoring, and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Communicate protocol deviations to management.
  • Follow all company safety requirements.

Job description

Inotiv is seeking an Associate Histology Technician to join our lab in Maryland Heights

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to identify anatomical landmarks for wet tissue
  • Perform Tissue Trimming
  • Record Gross tissue observations found at trim
  • Document all study and laboratory activities as required for compliance
  • Maintain study data files and specimens in an organized and confidential fashion
  • Review study documentation for proper data recording and for compliance with SOPs.
  • Operate and understand tissue processing equipment
  • Performing preventative maintenance, monitoring, and calibration of laboratory equipment as assigned.
  • Timely communication to area management (e.g., the Histology Operations Manager or Histology supervisor) regarding any protocol deviations or significant SOP deviations.
  • Follow all company safety requirements
Skills and Abilities
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and work with the minimal supervision
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate with management, co-workers and other teams
Education and Experience
  • College Diploma or equivalent science level courses, lab experience preferred
  • Required experience must also reflect the Skills and Responsibilities outlined below
Physical Activity and Working Conditions

Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work or laboratory environment

Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipment

The noise level is usually moderate

This position will frequently be involved with sharps, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials and bio-hazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material (which may include HPB positive specimens), immunization to Hepatitis B and/or other diseases may be a requirement.
