Job summary

The Commit Partnership is seeking an Associate, Grants to support the Philanthropic Investments team in managing institutional funding, grant reporting, and donor stewardship.

You will coordinate deliverables, help write proposals, maintain grant records in Salesforce, and collaborate across departments to advance fundraising goals for our portfolio of funders. This role reports to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving and offers mentorship and growth in institutional philanthropy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • 2-3 years of grant management or fundraising experience preferred.

Description

The Associate, Grants plays a vital role in the success of the Philanthropic Investments team by supporting the effective management and stewardship of The Commit Partnership's institutional funding portfolio. This position will focus on grant reporting, investor engagement planning, grant writing, deliverables management, budget compliance, project management, and collaboration across departments.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving on the Philanthropic Investments team, the Grants Associate partners closely with colleagues across the organization to advance fundraising goals, strengthen investor relationships, and support operational excellence. The Associate will serve as a key resource in managing systems, collecting data, and providing overall support to the Sr. Director and Portfolio Managers. The role requires a strong level of decision-making, judgment, and analytical ability to assess the capacity, alignment, and readiness of potential investors. This role offers a unique opportunity to build expertise in institutional philanthropy while receiving mentorship and professional development alongside experienced fundraising professionals.

The salary range for this role is $60,000–$78,000 annually.

Please note that for external candidates, the expected salary range is approximately $60,000-$69,000 depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Grant Reporting and Deliverables Management
  • Coordinate and compile grant reports, ensuring timely and accurate submission to institutional funders.
  • Track progress on grant deliverables and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders ensuring deliverables are submitted on time.
  • Maintain compliance with grant agreements, including reporting deadlines and funder requirements.
  • Project and Systems Management
  • Utilize project management tools (e.g., Teamwork) to monitor and manage grant timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintain and update Salesforce records for institutional funding relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve data management systems.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Work closely with program teams to gather data and updates for grant reporting and proposal development.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Institutional Investments team and other departments to align efforts and ensure consistency in communications with funders.
  • Investor Engagement and Grant Writing
  • Support the creation and execution of investor engagement plans, ensuring funders remain informed and connected to The Commit Partnership’s work.
  • Assist with grant writing, including drafting proposals, letters of inquiry, and renewal requests.
  • Conduct research on prospective institutional funders to identify new funding opportunities.
  • Data Collection and Reporting
  • Collaborate with the Data and Analytics team to collect and analyze data for reporting purposes.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across reports and presentations.
  • Create dashboards or summaries to communicate grant performance metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Administrative and Strategic Support
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving and Portfolio Managers, including scheduling meetings and preparing materials.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives to strengthen institutional fundraising efforts.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to long-term planning efforts.
  • Manage all grant portal logins.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Education And Experience Required

    • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in grant management, fundraising, or a related role.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Experience using project management tools or workflow management systems.
    • Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and standard office technology.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with multiple stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience using Salesforce or another customer relationship management (CRM) system.
    • Experience supporting grant writing, proposal development, or donor stewardship.

    Language Skills

    • Ability to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate need.
    • Ability to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.

    Work Environment

    This position primarily operates in a professional office environment but may require travel to meetings, partner organizations, fundraising events, or community events. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

    Physical Activity & Requirements

    While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. This is a sedentary position; however, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, grasp, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and lift up to 10 pounds.
