Job summary

BakerHostetler seeks a mid-level associate (4-6 years) to join its Business Practice Group - Government Contracts Team. The ideal candidate will represent clients in industries including cybersecurity, telecommunications, aerospace and defense, construction and engineering, IT, life sciences, biodefense, and professional services.

This position may be located in the Los Angeles, CA or Washington, D.C. office, with exposure to bid protests, contract disputes, investigations, and regulatory

Qualifications

  • Experience in all areas of public contract law at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Bid protests, FAR/DFARS counseling, FCA litigation, suspension and debarment.
  • Admission to practice law in the state of residence.

  • Represent clients in government contracts matters across multiple industries.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex, fast-paced matters.
  • Develop and enhance ethics and compliance programs.

Job description

BakerHostetler is seeking a mid-level associate (4-6 years of experience) to join its Business Practice Group - Government Contracts Team. As a member of the Government Contracts Team, the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to represent clients in numerous industries, including cybersecurity, telecommunications, aerospace and defense, construction and engineering, information technology, life sciences, biodefense, and professional services.

Qualifications Include
  • Experience in all areas of public contract law (federal, state, and local) including:
  • Handling bid protests in a first or second chair role
  • Government contracts counseling under FAR/DFARS
  • Experienced with False Claims Act litigation, suspension, and debarment
  • Conducting internal investigations
  • Responding to government investigations
  • Developing and enhancing ethics and compliance programs
  • Am Law 100 experience
  • A strong academic record, having earned a J.D. from a nationally recognized and accredited school
  • Must be admitted to practice law in state of residence

  • Effective and persuasive writing and oral communication skills; law review or other comparable experience indicating significant research and writing skills a plus
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, complex workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues

Location:

This position may be located in the Los Angeles, CA or Washington, D.C. office.

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $285,000 – $345,000. The salary offered in any location will be determined by a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, experience level, education/training, geographic region, and relevant skills. Associates also participate in a performance- and hours-based bonus program. BakerHostetler offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including group health, dental and vision insurance, paid holidays (11 days), paid time off, 401(k) plan, parental leave (10 weeks, not including disability, where applicable), family care program, wellness program, life and accident insurance, and short and long-term disability.
