Job summary

UWM, a leading mortgage lender, seeks an Associate General Counsel to support regulatory and legal matters, overseeing title‑related projects and loan‑level litigation.

This on-site role at our Pontiac, MI headquarters requires a Michigan bar and extensive litigation experience in mortgage banking or loan servicing. You will guide risk management, review vendor contracts, and train teams to navigate complex laws.

Qualifications

• Must be a Michigan-licensed attorney.
• Experience in litigation.
• Experience overseeing servicing and loan-level litigation.
• Experience performing corporate legal work.
• Experience in mortgage banking, loan servicing, or financial industry.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Focus on Mortgage Servicing Litigation and supporting regulatory matters.
• Provide business support on regulatory and legal issues.
• Interpret legislation and regulations affecting mortgage brokers and lenders.
• Review vendor relationships and contracts.
• Conduct legal research on unique issues impacting the organization.
• Keep abreast of legislative changes affecting the company.
• Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risk and maximize rights.
• Provide legal training to company teams.

Job description

Our Associate General Counsel will support our business with all regulatory and legal matters. They will be responsible for overseeing title‑related legal projects as well as servicing and other loan‑level litigation.

This position requires 100% on‑site attendance at our headquarters in Pontiac, MI.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Focus on Mortgage Servicing Litigation
• Providing business support on a variety of regulatory and legal matters
• Interpreting legislation and regulations affecting mortgage brokers and lenders
• Reviewing business relationships with vendors
• Conducting legal research on unique legal issues impacting the organization
• Keeping abreast of legislative changes that may affect the Company
• Performing pre‑litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights
• Providing legal training to Company team members

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Must Have Qualifications:

• Michigan bar licensed attorney
• Litigation experience
