Job summary

UWM in Pontiac, MI is seeking an Associate General Counsel to support regulatory and legal matters, overseeing title-related projects as well as servicing and other loan-level litigation. This on-site role requires Michigan bar admission and a strong background in mortgage-related litigation.

You will lead and advise across business units, perform complex legal research, and stay current with evolving mortgage industry regulations while guiding teams to effective resolutions.

• Experience overseeing title-related legal projects and servicing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Mortgage Servicing Litigation and related regulatory matters.
• Provide business-oriented legal support on regulatory and other matters.
• Oversee servicing and loan-level litigation.
• Interpret legislation and regulations affecting mortgage brokers and lenders.
• Review vendor relationships and contracts.
• Conduct legal research on issues impacting the organization.
• Monitor legislative changes that affect the company.
• Perform pre-litigation work to mitigate risk and protect legal rights.
• Provide legal training to teams.

Job description

Our Associate General Counsel will support our business with all regulatory and legal matters. They will be responsible for overseeing title-related legal projects as well as servicing and other loan-level litigation.

This position requires 100% on-site attendance at our headquarters in Pontiac, MI.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Must Have Qualifications:

• Michigan bar licensed attorney
• Litigation experience
• Experience in the mortgage banking, banking, loan servicing, or financial industry
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Have effective planning, organizational and project management skills
• Be able to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively
• Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Have excellent written and communication skills
• Have the ability to work independently
• Have critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Be self-motivated and able to work well in a team based environment

• Mortgage Servicing Litigation
• Providing business support on a variety of regulatory and legal matters
• Experience in overseeing and litigating servicing and other loan-level cases
