ZoomInfo is seeking an Associate General Counsel – Litigation to serve as the operational and strategic leader of the litigation function, managing the day-to-day docket, directly supervising the Senior Litigation Counsel and litigation support staff, and acting as the primary deputy to the Deputy General Counsel/Chief Litigator on all litigation, disputes, and eDiscovery matters. This is a hybrid player-coach role: the AGC will personally own the company's highest-exposure and most sensitive matters while building and managing a high-performing litigation team and function.

This role is designed to create leverage for the Deputy General Counsel by owning execution, resourcing, and team management of the litigation portfolio, freeing the Deputy GC to focus on top-tier strategic risk, board-level reporting, and cross-functional regulatory/privacy priorities.

Primary Responsibilities
Team & Function Leadership
  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Senior Litigation Counsel and other litigation team members (as hired); conduct performance reviews and support career development;
  • Own resourcing and workload allocation across the litigation team, ensuring appropriate coverage;
  • Strengthen scalable litigation processes, playbooks, and templates (pleadings, discovery protocols, litigation hold procedures) to drive consistency and efficiency;
  • Serve as the escalation point on complex strategic or judgment calls, looping in the Deputy GC on matters of significant exposure or novel legal risk;
  • Partner with the Deputy GC on department-level planning, including litigation budget development, outside counsel panel management, and legal technology/AI tooling decisions.
Litigation Portfolio Management & Strategy
  • Own the company's overall litigation docket and reporting, ensuring the Deputy GC and executive stakeholders have timely, accurate visibility into case status, exposure, and strategy;
  • Personally manage the most complex, high-exposure, or reputationally sensitive litigation, including class actions (e.g., securities, privacy, consumer protection) and regulatory enforcement matters;
  • Direct and approve litigation strategy across the portfolio, including cost-benefit analysis, risk assessment, and settlement posture, in coordination with the Deputy GC;
  • Oversee and approve outside counsel engagement and spend across the litigation portfolio; drive alternative fee arrangements and cost discipline; interface with insurance brokers and carriers to ensure appropriate notice and reporting;
  • Represent ZoomInfo in mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, and court proceedings as needed for owned matters.
eDiscovery, Information Governance & Legal Process
  • Provide senior oversight of litigation hold procedures and eDiscovery strategy across the portfolio, partnering with IT, Security, and business stakeholders on retention and information governance policy;
  • Set standards and approve vendor/technology decisions for eDiscovery, including AI-assisted review tools;
  • Provide senior-level oversight and quality control of subpoena response, privilege assertions, and legal process compliance handled by the litigation team.
Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration
  • Serve as a key liaison between Legal and cross-functional stakeholders (Privacy, Regulatory, Employment, Commercial, Finance, IT, Security) on matters requiring coordinated litigation input;
  • Prepare and deliver litigation risk reporting and updates to the Deputy GC, General Counsel, and other executive stakeholders as needed;
  • Contribute to department-wide policy, process, and best-practice development, and act as a thought partner to the Deputy GC on emerging litigation risk trends (e.g., AI-related claims, evolving privacy class action theories).
Deputy Coverage
  • Act as a trusted deputy to the Deputy General Counsel/Chief Litigator, stepping in on litigation matters, approvals, and stakeholder communications in the Deputy GC's absence.
Required Competencies
  • People Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and grow attorneys and legal staff; experience building team processes and driving accountability.
  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of business operations and ability to translate complex litigation risk into commercially practical guidance for executives.
  • Strategic Risk Judgment: Ability to evaluate enterprise-level litigation risk, prioritize competing matters, and communicate clearly to non-legal senior stakeholders and, where appropriate, the Board.
  • Budget & Vendor Management: Proven experience managing litigation budgets and outside counsel relationships/spend at scale.
  • Communication & Advocacy: Exceptional written and oral advocacy skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership.
  • Negotiation: Advanced negotiation skills with a track record of favorable settlement outcomes.
  • Project Management: Superior organizational skills managing a portfolio of high-stakes matters simultaneously across a team.
  • Collaboration: Strong cross-functional relationship-building skills across Privacy, Regulatory, Employment, Commercial, IT, and Security.
  • Innovation: Forward-thinking approach to legal service delivery, including use of legal AI/technology tools in litigation and eDiscovery.
Experience
  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Bar Admission: Active member in good standing of at least one state bar.
  • Experience: 10+ years of litigation experience, including substantive experience at a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department, with at least 3+ years in a people-management or team-leadership capacity.
  • Litigation Expertise: Demonstrated experience handling all phases of complex litigation from pleadings through trial/appeal, including significant motion practice, discovery, depositions, and court appearances. Strong preference for candidates with experience in privacy and/or securities litigation, including class actions.
  • Autonomy & Judgment: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment in high‑pressure, high‑visibility situations, and manage competing priorities across a team.
  • Strategic Thinking: Exceptional analytical and strategic planning abilities with a proven record of developing creative, business-aligned solutions to complex legal problems.
