Job summary

Meta is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join its AI Partnerships Legal group. You will drive complex technology agreements, licensing, and strategic partnerships that power Meta's AI initiatives across the ecosystem.

The role requires negotiating cloud/SaaS deals, independent judgment, and advising on evolving AI/open source frameworks while collaborating with product, partnerships, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of legal experience in technology transactions, commercial licensing, or strategic partnerships.
• Experience structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements (cloud, SaaS, platform, or similar tech deals).
• Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and drive deals to close with minimal oversight.
• Strong risk judgment and guidance on unsettled or evolving law.
• Direct experience with AI/ML model licensing, distribution, or commercialization.
• Familiarity with open source licensing frameworks and community dynamics.
• Experience supporting go-to-market strategies for platform or developer ecosystem products.
• Background working with CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP) on technology distribution or marketplace agreements.
• Prior in-house experience at a technology company operating at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact.
• Experience adhering to responsible, ethical AI practices (risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality reviews).
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration).

About the Role

Meta's Legal team is looking for a Commercial Counsel to join our AI Partnerships Legal group. This role will support the full range of commercial legal work powering Meta's AI ambitions — with a particular focus on bringing our models to market across the broader ecosystem.

About the Team

The AI Partnerships Legal team supports Meta's most commercially significant AI relationships — from frontier model partnerships and data licensing to ecosystem distribution and product integrations. The work is fast-paced, high-visibility, and directly tied to Meta's AI strategy.

Qualifications and Experience
