Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel for Technology, AI, IP, and Legal Operations to lead AI-enabled processes in a defense and intelligence context, partnering with the CIO and technologists to align legal with SPA’s AI strategy.

This hybrid role based in Alexandria, VA will sit close to senior leadership, mentor the legal team, shape policies and IP strategy, and drive governance, compliance, and innovation across SPA’s business units.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
7–10+ years of legal experience with government, a law firm, or in-house.
Expertise in technology, AI, IP, and legal operations; defense/intelligence experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Advise on legal matters related to technology, AI, IP, and data protection/privacy.
Lead design, development and deployment of AI-enabled legal processes.
Collaborate with CIO and technologists to ensure compliance with AI strategy.
Provide guidance on regulatory, licensing, data processing and protection issues.
Develop and maintain policies for data protection, privacy, and ethical AI.
Advise on AI governance per NIST RMF and DoD Responsible AI Tenets.
Develop and implement IP strategy for software/tool commercialization.
Foster cross-functional collaboration and drive legal ops transformation.
Mentor and influence the legal team.
