Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Rochester, NY is seeking an Associate, Computer / Electrical Engineer (FPGA Development) to design, analyze, and test FPGA hardware and related circuits for avionics and space subsystems.

The role emphasizes VHDL-based digital design, RF and photonics integration, and collaboration with program engineers, customers, and labs. A relevant bachelor’s degree is required, with strong communication skills and hands-on prototyping experience valued.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or having completed a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering/Science, or related field.
• Experience or coursework in FPGA, VHDL, and high-speed digital design is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to present technical results to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Prepare component drawings and specifications for complex products (electro-optical, opto-mechanical, or electro-mechanical).
• Support procurement and testing for parts and materials; interface with labs to verify testing and conformance.
• Communicate findings to program engineers and customers; present analysis results regularly.
• Act as a technical consultant and conduct reviews of supplier data and test results for conformance.
• Follow established procedures and guidance from senior staff.
• Design, analyze, modify, test, and evaluate FPGA hardware and related circuits.
• Create and analyze Circuit Card Assemblies for Avionics/Space subsystems.
• Design systems for photonics and RF communications; draft responsive design explanations.
