Summary of Responsibilities

The associate investment advisor is responsible for working with the firm’s clients, including answering incoming requests, preparing for and conducting client review meetings, and collaborating with RFG’s advisory team to meet client goals. This position works closely with lead advisor(s) and collaborates with staff members to ensure that client requests are answered in the appropriate time frame. This role is designed to provide the associate investment advisor with a strong foundation in the investment advisory and financial planning industry and prepare them for a more senior role in the future.

  1. Provide service to the firm’s current clients and support lead advisor(s).
  2. Review client’s financial information input data into Right Capital (financial planning software).
  3. Use Right Capital to project outcomes and identify problem areas for lead advisor(s).
  4. Distribute monthly market commentary and newsletters.
  5. Ensure that clients’ asset allocation is in line with their goals and objectives.
  6. Obtain information and complete insurance applications for clients.
  7. Conduct review meetings for the group of clients assigned by RFG.
  8. Assist in 401(k) education meetings (both group and one-on-one) for RFG retirement plan advisory clients.
  9. Research new products and services that will enhance client relationships or fulfill clients’ short- and long-term financial needs.
  10. Become familiar with RFG’s operations and provide direction to administrative staff on specific client needs.
  11. Meet with clients to review paperwork; ensure that all required forms are completed accurately.
  12. Generate reports, such as investment monitoring reports, for meetings with clients.
  13. Assist with workflow needs in office:
  • Maintain updated client records, notes, and tasks using CRM software.
  • Maintain appropriate turnaround time on incoming items (e.g., 24 hours for checks).
Required Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
  • BA or BS in business, finance or similar desired.
  • Experience in the investment/insurance industry is desired.
  • Knowledge of investment/insurance industry operations and terminology.
  • FINRA Series 7/66 or 65 registrations or the ability to obtain these registrations within 6 months.
  • Proficiency with computer programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), CRM, RightCapital, Holistiplan, and Wealthscape.
  • Ability to establish rapport with clients and coworkers.
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to communicate financial planning concepts and terminology.
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to explain products, such as mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and insurance.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members to find solutions for clients’ problems.
