Job description

Position Summary...
The Associate Facilities Manager reports to the Facilities Manager and works both independently and in a team environment to assist in scheduling, executing and documenting the planned and unplanned site maintenance activities. The Associate Facilities Manager will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and the facility. All work will be done in compliance with FDA, DEA, EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

This is a safety sensitive position as defined by state and federal laws that will require working with hazardous materials and/or handling medicine. As a 'safety sensitive' classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.

Work Schedule:This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (assuming 1 hour lunch break)

Essential Functions...

  • Coordinate efforts of the Facilities Technicians, Contractors, and Facilities Management to meet internal facilities requirements to support day to day activities as well as expansion projects.
  • Respond to internal requests related to Housekeeping, Assembly, Transport, HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical.
  • Perform building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary.
  • Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as HVAC, refrigeration water purification systems, and production equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments, including preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories.
  • May initiate purchase order for parts and equipment.
  • May author/revise preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure Security measures meet requirements and are in place and functional.
  • Support the Facilities Manager in the implementation and review of Facilities policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of all labs to ensure compliance with Facilities requirements.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety and quality protocols.
  • Able to work evenings/weekends, if needed, per maintenance scheduling and participates in on-call rotation.

This position will supervise other employees.

Position Requirements...

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in facilities management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role is required.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.

This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. Attendance at the office is required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
