Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Associate Mechanical Estimator to perform discipline and multi-discipline take-offs, evaluate labor rates, and compile data for estimates. This role supports pre-construction activities and larger estimating tasks across multiple projects, focusing on accuracy and timely delivery.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience and a BS/MS in Construction Management preferred, with strong skills in MS Office and analytical thinking to interpret specs and drawings.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Onboarding requirements including background check and drug screen may be required.
• BS or MS in Construction Management or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and/or compiles discipline and multi‑discipline material take‑offs (MTOs).
• Evaluates and/or develops labor rates and subcontract costs.
• Enters the information into a spreadsheet or database for inclusion in an estimate.

Job Summary The Associate Estimator performs all aspects of estimating, requiring minimal supervision.May assist in pre‑construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating Responsibilities

• Develops and/or compiles discipline and multi‑discipline material take‑offs (MTOs)
• Evaluates and/or develops labor rates and subcontract costs
• Enters the information into a spreadsheet or database for inclusion in an estimate
• Assists in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments (with additional experience within one specialty)

Pre‑Construction Activities

• Assist the Pre‑Construction/Estimating team in developing preliminary Work Packages

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience
• All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS or MS graduate in Construction Management or related field is preferred
• Field experience is a plus
