Job summary

IU Health in Avon, IN is seeking an environmental services professional to provide cleaning and sanitizing services across patient rooms, clinics, and public areas at West Hospital.

The role requires wearing appropriate protective equipment, physical ability to stand, reach, and lift up to 35 lbs (up to 80% of the time), and the capacity to operate light cleaning equipment. Onsite work with a focus on infection prevention and patient safety.

Qualifications

• No previous experience required.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
• Requires the ability to operate light floor equipment for cleaning floors in patient care areas.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Requires the ability to clean areas that require technical cleaning including IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED.

Applies disinfection protocols and utilizes approved cleaning tools in accordance with infection control standards and hospital policy. Conducts hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols. Proactively communicates and collaborates with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow.

Schedules available : Full Time - Evening (3pm-11:30 pm) or Night Shift (11:00 am - 6:30am)

Candidate Preferred

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.

Benchmarks

• 3 months - Master teletracking app, Maintain good attendance .
• 6 months - Independent with responsibilities assigned.
• 12 months - Totally independent, completing e-learnings and completing job responsibilities.
